2019-02-27 Microsoft Outlook is like a Wundertuete (jamboree bag): You never know in what ways it'll surprise you the next time. Today I discovered a dialog windows with four checkboxes. The latter two acted as normal checkboxes. The first two, however, acted like radio buttons ... only that one could de-select both. Clearly, this is broken. The correct way to implement it is keep- ing the latter two as normal checkboxes, and replacing the former two with three radio buttons: option-1, option-2, option-none. Another one of those Wundertuete stories: Two Outlook instances (same version) access the same IMAP mail- box. One of the instances had the SMTP connection set up without authentication, thus sent mail was rejected for not allowed re- laying. All well this far. The rejection information entered the IMAP inbox as a message, which both Outlook instances can display. The first Outlook instance displayed the message as: Ihre Nachricht hat einige oder alle Empfänger nicht erreicht. Betreff: foo Gesendet am: 27.02.2019 13:51 Folgende(r) Empfänger kann/können nicht erreicht werden: bob@example.org am Der Empfänger wurde gelöscht oder besitzt keine E-Mail-Adresse. The second Outlook instance displayed the very same message this way: Ihre Nachricht hat einige oder alle Empfänger nicht erreicht. Betreff: foo Gesendet am: 27.02.2019 13:51 Folgende(r) Empfänger kann/können nicht erreicht werden: 'bob@example.org' am 27.02.2019 13:51 Serverfehler: "473 bob@example.org relaying prohibited. You should authenticate first"' WTF! So Outlook disguises content of messages on display? Outlook is so ultimately broken, it is unbelievable how much bro- ken it is! I am astonished and shocked again and again. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
