2018-01-02 Changed the Internet provider at my parents house. There were separate providers for the telephone (ISDN via Telekom) and In- ternet (small bandwidth ADSL via 1&1). As the Telekom dropped the ISDN service, we had to switch. The positives are that it's much cheaper and that I now can con- figure the telephone setup with the browser. (I had to use a Win- dows computer with special software and USB access to configure the Eumex previously. I did that just once ever, to set it up, because of the inconvenience.) The negatives are this message when I want to access the router admin interface from my browser: Willkommen bei Ihrer FRITZ!Box Die FRITZ!Box-Benutzeroberfläche nutzt moderne Methoden für eine optimale Darstellung auf einer Vielzahl von Geräten. Leider unterstützt Ihr Internet Browser diese Methoden nicht. Wir empfehlen daher die Aktualisierung des vorhandenen oder die Verwendung eines anderen Internet Browsers. Furthermore no one could or wanted to provide any statement about whether it would be possible to make two parallel telephone calls and surf the net at the same time over the small bandwidth. Ex- perience shows that it is no problem at all. We had no alterna- tives anyway. But it was annoying that no Internet provider could deliver information about that situation. Shouldn't have been too difficult ... And finally, the old provider Telekom did a horrible job. First, the did not inform us early about their giving up on the ISDN service. Actually, we were informed by our Internet provider 1&1! Then, Telekom did not offer attractive conditions. Last -- and this disqualified them completely for me -- they tried to talk us into staying with them by using FUD methods. They made false technical statements about other Internet providers. They built up pressure in an unbelievable way. If I would not have known that much of the topic at hand, they could have just forced me into a new contract with them ... by making false statements and putting up huge pressure. That was so disgusting that I will never ever work with them. Companies that use such techniques should be fully boycotted! http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
