2017-12-12 Wrote to the DPL (Chris Lamb) in reaction to his call for feed- back. Rolf showed me a broken JPEG file. On closer examination, it was a text file full of octal escapes (i.e. strings in the form of ``\123''). It seems someone stored the escaped text representa- tion of the binary file. (It was exported from a database.) Solutions to the problem can be found here.
