2017-02-01 This is complete shit! There's no robustness in VMware Player. I do have a Debian GNU/Linux virtual machine on a Windows comput- er. Today, I plugged in a USB drive, attached it to the virtual machine, then mounted it, copied some files from it, then un- mounted it, then pulled it out. Next, VMware player crashed and the virtual machine could not be resumed anymore, meaning it crashed as well. How ridiculous! Isn't that a pretty common case to pull out a USB drive when it is unmounted? Although I should have detached it from the virtual machine first, it is plain stu- pid to not handle this situation gracefully. Small ``failure'', big impact -- this is anti-robustness. I'm really pissed off. And furthermore, I have to realize that my common working style -- having long running sessions that I detach and resume, instead of shutting down and booting up -- appears to be considered un- typical, strange, not covered, not supposed to be used, whatever. I really hate the mainstream IT world today! :-( http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
