2016-09-29 The OSM standard tile servers started to filter tile accesses to cut scrapers off. E.g. accesses without sending a referer header are rejected now. In my case, the browser was sending referer headers but still I saw only gray tiles. After asking on the talk-de@ mailing list, [0] it became clear, that my requests were rejected, because I use a too old version of Firefox on this machine. Following a hint, I changed the user agent string, via ``about:config''. I set ``general.useragent.override'' to ``Mozilla/5.0 (compatible) Gecko/14.0 Firefox/14.0''. (In newer versions, the option was renamed to ``appversion'' and the like.) Now the tiles are delivered to me again. One aspect of my oppinion on the ``But you should rather up- grade!'' comments can be found in the same thread as well.
