2015-03-15 Further work on the home server hard disk migration today. I found the reason why the machine didn't boot from the new disk: The /etc/fstab had the old partition UUID for the root file sys- tem. This partition was on the disconnected old hard disk, how- ever. Therefore Lilo couldn't find its map file and thus the ``L 99 99 99...'' message. After I had adjusted /etc/fstab, I could boot from the new disk. However, the booting stopped when the kernel wanted to mount the root file system. It tried to mount /dev/block/8:17. (I think this was the address of the disk when the old disk still was plugged in.) Thus, I changed all those UUID references and simi- lar back to good old /dev/sda1 & Co. Afterwards, the system bootet as expected. Next time, I'll try to switch those disk references back to UUIDs to be able to plug in further devices without worrying. Then, I also have to set up the RAID. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
