2015-02-01 Over a decade ago I bought a webcam, just to experient with it. I haven't used it much since then, and hardly ever during the last five years. Now, I thought that it would be cool to automatically take pictures of the weather outside ... over a year or so. ;-) I plugged the webcam in. It worked at once. I could grab pictures with the program `webcam' (Debian package) and get a live view with: mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0 Unfortunately, I am not able to take the weather pictures I want. The webcam works fine inside the room, where everything is quite dark, but as soon as I aim it outside, in to the light, it kinda hangs: The whole picture goes white and flickers ... just as the webcam would be overwhelmed by all the light. If I turn it back to the room, it starts to work again. I'm not sure if the problem is the cheap webcam or the driver. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
