2014-10-09 Today, I've been in Stuttgart to visit the CCCS talk by Robin Seggelmann. (He is the guy who wrote the code of the Heartbleed vulnerability.) His talk was half about Heartbleed (the reasons for its existence and the impact on Seggelmann) and half about how Free Software (which he calls ``Open Source'') works. I enjoyed the talk a lot. He addressed both, hackers and non- programmers. He presented everything un-emotional. And the gen- eral tone was positive and motivating. (The only thing I didn't like: He usually mixed ``commercial'' and ``proprietary''. I be- lieve that being fuzzy in distinguishing these two clearly hurts the Free Software movement a lot.) Before the talk, I met with Philipp Takacs and Michi to talk about mmh. Philipp has sent me a whole bunch of patches during the previous many months. We had some email dialogue but actually meeting is a different thing. Our time together motivates me a lot. I should remember that everytime I miss the motivation, I just need to meet other interested people to discuss with on the project and make plans. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
