2014-08-12 It's a shame that ed is no longer installed per default on modern GNU/Linux systems. Maybe that's because GNU ed is so rediculously large. Well, I have Heirloom ed on my systems. But why should it comply with POSIX, as POSIX demands ed to support the `-p' switch? Who ever would want ed to print a prompt? I can't ima- gine anyone. And because POSIX doesn't like `-' switches (without a letter), it had introduces `-s'. But as ed only knows of one single switch (`-'), who would want to type `-s' instead? Hence, today, in a flash of good mood, I removed those unnecessary switches from my ed version. [0] Now, this ed is how it should be: ed [-] [file] ssh-copy-id is a great helper, but only if the ssh server listens on port 22 (or you have the port set in the ssh config). As nei- ther ist the case for my, I cannot use it. Too bad! Philosophised with Ju about signednes problems in C code. The bottom line: I don't like these problems and I see no good solu- tion to them. [0] http://hg.marmaro.de/heirloom-ed/rev/a09d0630f05b http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
