2014-07-09 Julian Andrej asked me about the font I use in the terminal. It's: $ grep font ~/.Xdefaults *font: -*-terminus-medium-*-*-*-23-*-*-*-*-*-*-* This leads to 30 lines and 84 columns on my 1024x768 pixel screen. I would prefer 88 columns (for 80 columns plus `set nu' in vi) but you cannot choose arbitrary with fixed size fonts. Hence, I take the largest font that gives me 80+ columns in a fullscreen terminal, which is what I use most of the time. On screens with larger resolutions, the fonts have larger sizes, too. On an 1400x1050 screen, I use the 32-pixel-variant. In all cases, the letter `E' is about 4-6 mm high. Large fonts are so much more relaxing to the eyes, IMO. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
