2014-04-22 Today I held the first part of a six-hour workshop on Latex for young librarians. Actually, I'm not so much a Latex guy. I haven't used it for years until I prepared for this workshop. I realized that the Latex world had changed quite a bit, for the better, though. Texlive is a good Tex distribution for be- ginners, only its size is shocking. Sadly there is no `I want a sensible installation in 500 MB' option. The editor Texworks, which comes included on Windows and MacOS X, is a fine choice for beginners as well. It's already and fully adjusted to Texlive. I haven't prepared slides for the workshop, I talked freely and developed the knowledge with the participants incrementally. The files I used are available online. [0] For me, this workshop was a great chance to get contact to Latex again. Also, deciding which concepts I would explain and how I would do this improved my own understanding of the system a lot. -- Teaching is the master's way of learning!
