I believe, now my old notebook (Dream) is truly dead, now. :-( It
issued further disk access errors in the last weeks. Then, today,
it refused to boot, no matter how  often  I  tried:  Disk  errors
right from the start. (Still, I think that the problem lies some-
where on the mainboard, in the DMA-controller perhaps.)

I used Dream since the beginning of 2006, that  were  over  eight
years,  and  nearly all the time I was a student. I got it at the
end of the second semester and used it until it was  replaced  by
Deseo during my master's thesis. Then it went into retirement and
I only used it from time to time.

The most intensive time with Dream was during the work on my  di-
ploma  thesis,  in  2009 (when the harddisk problems were already
there). Back then, I accidently broke the X server of  my  Debian
unstable  system,  and  thus worked in the plain console for many
weeks. -- Maybe I should do that more often ...!
