2013-11-21 I shouldn't explain things to others before being sure I have un- derstood them and have double-checked the documention. In the Debianforum.de, I was quite wrong about the SysV init sys- tem, (still) used in Debian. [0] The key to the understanding was reading: /usr/share/doc/sysv-rc/README.runlevels.gz There's so much high-quality documentation available. I should read much more of it instead of searching the web all the time. There was a lot of discussion in Debian on init systems. I'm glad, they haven't chosen one of these strange new ones. Although, I prefer even more simplicity: The old BSD file-rc init system. (I should come back to installing the file-rc pack- age on Debian systems again ...)
