2012-06-28 Since nearly three weeks, I have a finger daemon running on my server. Thanks to krt for reminding me that finger is such a cool service an that it is worth to provide it. In these three weeks, four failed query attempts were logged. Two of them came from the students who take part in the lecture where I prepare the exercises. I requested them to implement RFC 1288, the finger protocol. ;-) The other two requests were foreign. One came from a provider in Brasil, fingering ``^V^C''. The other came from an Russian provider, asking ``GET / HTTP/1.0''. No, we don't speak HTTP on port 79. :-D For the first time, I came across an Internationalized Domain Name (IDN). That was the most idiotic idea ever invented. For- tunately, they are sparely used. Apart from that, I'm working on my thesis, not doing much else. http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
