2012-04-10 I've forgotten to mention, that I finally registered an account at freeshell.org. Although, I should better say: At sdf.org, the Super Dimension Fortress. Freeshell is only an alias that describes what they provide. I admire their effort to provide free Unix shell access to anymore very much. It's great that such services still exist. They provide email access for free, too. It's readily available on the command line by mutt(1). There had been some discussion at debianforum.de about sane email providers. Sdf.org can be an op- tion, IMO. If you want more than the very basis account features (you do want!), then you need to validate your account. To do so, you need to send one US dollar to SDF. This is only to prevent misuse. Whereas that's a simple task for US citizens, it requires a bit more effort for Europeans. You could transfer the money via Paypal, also, but I prefer snail mail. A friend had a dollar left from here last holidays and gave it to me as a present -- thanks Anja. The letter is prepared now. I'll send it off soon. Besides having access to another system, which has general advan- tages, I plan to take it as my door to the Usenet. Entering Usenet is a process which already took many months, but I hope soon I'll finally step through the door. (btw: You might find that [0] funny to read.) Another topic, I've not talked about much: CAcert. I've met those people at Chemnitzer Linuxtage this year and was assured by four of them. Three of them already gave me 100 points (35+35+30). This enables me to request a server certificate, which is my actual wish. But it also qualifies me to do the test to become an assurer myself. Likely I'll go for it. But there's no reason to hurry.
