2011-04-07 I installed crux 2.7 [0] , following mostly the (outdated) Quick Install Reference [1]. Eventually things went well, although I needed to struggle at some places. There was cfdisk having a bug which kept me from specifying two-character partition types. I used fdisk for that part then. When configuring the network I came across ip(8) for the first time. I simply copied and adjust- ed the commands I needed. I can't tell if I like ip(8), yet. I used to take any standard kernel and have never cared about it much. Now I needed to configure and compile one on my own. I should have copied the config from some kernel I had used on the machine to take it as a starting base. The shipped config had been quite unusable for me. Things improved after running `make defconfig'. Lilo is the default boot loader for crux. I enjoyed the small config, especially compared to grub2. Now the system bootable and I can log in. Nice. :-) Everything else will follow. [0] http://crux.nu [1] http://crux.nu/Wiki/QuickInstallReference2-4 http://marmaro.de/lue/ markus schnalke
