2022-04-30 How Do You Sort Your Bag? Kat Mertsch was asked this question in a Q&A session. [0] Her answer (by speed first and stability second) is probably how most players do it. If you look at the usual bag style, then the putters are in the top pouch for easiest access. Mids, fairways and distantance drivers are in the main space. And utility discs, like the most overstable discs or roller discs are in the side pockets. The front flap pocket either holds the most overstable discs or the approach discs or driving putter. This seems to be the usual order for the standard bag style. But how do I do it? Now is the first time I actually think about that, although, of course, I do have some system. Let's start with the quick rounds when I carry my discs in my hand. Then I usually stack by speed: putting putter (P3) on top, then approach disc (Zone), then driver (Valkyrie or Teebird or OLF or Eagle or ...). If I play with a midrange (Roc3), then I tend to put the mid lowest, because it is larger than drivers and putters, which makes the stack strange when the smaller driver sits under the larger midrange. If I play with two discs only, then I carry one in each hand, for balance. Now to the bag. Usually I carry only 5-9 discs with me: - P3 (2) - Zone - (Roc3) - (Comet) - Teebird - Valkyrie - OLF - (Eagle/Banshee) - (Felon) All of the discs go into the main compartment, which also holds clothes and my water bottle, thus the discs only take up one half of it. I like to have the discs I use most on the end of the discs stack that's in the middle of the bag, and the rarely used discs on the other end, which is at the side of the bag. Hence, if I carry midranges, they usually are on the outer end. I use them rarely, and because they are larger the don't fit as well with the other discs. If I bag the Felon or a pure backup disc (here Eagle/Banshee), then they go towards the outer end as well. The other discs are mainly ordered by speed and usage frequency, which matches rather well. From the inside out: First putters, then the approach disc, then my main drivers, then the auxillary drivers then the midranges. Generally, my bag is much too small and simple to give a good answer to that question, or the other way round: this questions assumes a situation that does not exist in my case. My bag is so small and simple. Each disc is a different mold. Each disc has a different color. It simply does not matter how my bag is sorted, as I instantly know which disc I want to throw, without looking at my bag. And when I look at my bag, I instantly see which disc is which. It's all obvious. I simply don't have the problem of having to sort discs. :-) [0] https://youtu.be/=8JgRMy6a3rY http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
