2021-06-18 The Eagle Flight Clearly the nicest flight of all golf discs has the Comet -- so straight and glidey. The Teebird's flight -- straight to fade -- is so simple and dependable without being a one trick pony. For open field throws the nicest flight is the Eagle's flight. It don't need to be the actual Eagle mold; what I mean is the -1/3 flight pattern, i.e. the same that OLFs and Destroyers provide as well: with a bit of flip-up/turn and a dependable fade. In contrast to many others, I don't really like such discs as allround discs. I'm not as comfortable with that complex S-line flight when throwing all kinds of angles and stuff, as I am with the much more simple straight-to-fade flight of a Teebird (0/2). Thus, for hyzers, annies, straight placement shots, overhands, rollers, and the like, I rather use a Teebird, because it's easier to know what it will do. For for open field throws, the -1/3 flight pattern is just per- fect! This is why I bag the OLF, despite I have a Valkyrie. In an open field, the OLF is the better disc, although for line shaping I prefer the Valk. To days ago, I've been on the field, throwing some shots in the evening. With me I only had the orange 171g DX Eagle-X. It has noticable wear on the rim, but still flies like fresh. (A Teebird would not have held up equally well to the use.) Before I got the OLF, this Eagle was in about the same spot in my bag: the backup driver that can do everything, just not as good as the primary discs I bag. Well, the OLF gets more thrown than the Eagle got, but the scheme is the same. The difference between the two is that the OLF gives me easy dis- tance with good placement ... but, actually the Eagle provides the same too, It just wasn't used that much. So, there's not really a difference in flight and in the use cases. The only difference is the (required) speed. The OLF is a full speed disc for me, whereas the Eagle flies perfectly well when powered down and thrown very smooth. Maybe I should use this Eagle more often, in order to improve the smoothness of my form. Next round: P3, Zone, Eagle? :-) http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
