2021-03-06 Bad Windy Round It wasn't the best day to disc golf: 4C and a rather strong north-east wind, but at least it was sunny. Probably I wasn't in the best mood to play disc golf neither. And so it went ... I shot my worst round at Soehnstetten (tied my personal worst) at +11 (=65). My drives were off, my approaches were bad, and my putting even more so. 7 bogeys, 2 double bogeys, no single bir- die. A 6m putt was the best I could make; most of the 6m putts I did not make. Man! that was round bad! ;-) Clearly, the wind was stronger than I'm used to. This reduced my putting success. But it was more the form and overall playing (also decision making) that led to the poor result. Just some examples: #1: Zone FH short, then *two* layups to get to the pin. #6: Zone FH short, bad layup, missed the 6m putt. #10: P3 thumber approach short, missed the 6m putt. #16: Bad Zone forehand approach, missed the 7m putt, had a rolla- way, missed the 15m comebacker. #17: MOLF forehand barely safe. Then -- at least -- a good P3 thumber. Unfortunately I missed the 6m putt into a ripping headwind. Had 7m to come back and missed that as well. #18: Even here I took a bogey after a bad approach and missing the resulting 8m putt. That were a lot of bad layups and approaches! I played with P3, Zone, Roc3, Banshee, MOLF. But that didn't matter. Maybe the Felon would have been handy, but it wasn't really necessary. My discs were generally suited to deal with the wind. The problem clearly was my own state of mind: I was not relaxed, I was not focussed, my form was feeling off, my putting technique was awkward ... This round was a bad backfall on the recently otherwise nice im- provement rise. I hope to have some good rounds again in the near future. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
