2020-09-13 Soehnstetten Even Par The weather was great (28C, sunny, slight east wind). Marius and I went to Soehnstetten for a round around noon. After a rough start, Marius played a good back 9, scoring +14 overall. I played with my normal tournament bag. My round was great! I tied my personal best: E (=54). :-) I haven't taken notes, thus this is from memory: 1) Teebird backhand anny flex. Caught the twigs on the right, just slighly. 15m layup. -> 3 2) Teebird forehand hyzer, well thrown this time. 5m putt. -> 2 3) Valk backhand, as always not enough anny, thus fading left. Zone flick around the left side of the trees. Missed the 8m putt. -> 4 4) Valk backhand with a slight tailwind. Good length, just right. 15m half-run. -> 3 5) Felon forehand straight for position, good. Bad backhand ap- proach. Missed the 8m putt. -> 4 6) Zone forehand. 10m layup. -> 3 7) Felon backhand, did not fade enough, landing in the open and having a gap to the pin. 20m P3 layup. I was so happy that this approach went well! 3m putt. -> 3 8) MOLF backhand (slight headwind), a bit high and left. Downhill 10m layup. -> 3 9) Valk backhand with not enough anny, landing at hole 8's basket ... as usual! :-( I *need* to get that fixed! Again a too long blind Zone hyzer around the scrubs. Missed the 8m putt. -> 4 10) Valk backhand, a bit high, a bit left, but not the worst. Zone backhand approach, good. 3m putt. -> 3 11) Zone forehand. 3m putt. -> 2 12) Teebird backhand hyzer (not the Valk to not go deep). Landed pin-high below the pin. Missed the 7m putt just barely left. -> 3 13) Valk backhand, trying to land a bit right/low of the pin. Went into the big tree, 5m to the pin. Had only the tiniest gap through several branches. Chipped out, with a little roll. 4m putt. -> 3 14) Yes, take the Teebird! :-) 5m putt for another birdie! -> 2 15) Valk forehand (two-finger-grip), right into the ground. :-( (The practice throw backhand with the Teebird landed 7m to the pin. This is another Teebird hole.) Zone backhand approach, good. -> 3 16) Valk backhand, good, a bit short left. Missed the 8m putt just barely. -> 3 17) Felon forehand, straight. More right is much better for the approach. I went Zone backhand, going long. :-( Missed the 9m putt. -> 4 18) Teebird backhand anny flex. 6m putt. -> 2 Even par! And with several more opportunities for more birdies or less bogeys. What a round! Four birdies. Four bogeys. All four bogeys after bad approaches. One of them also after a bad drive. The Valkyrie was my main driver, as usual. The Teebird had more throws than last time, which is good; I could use it even more often. The MOLF was used only once, which is okay (caused by wind conditions and course layout, plus it's the new disc). To be noted: on #4 a pretty pure MOLF hyzer landed at the same spot as the straight Valk throw. The Felon had it's important shots. The driver section was well balanced this time. Except for #9 and #15 the drives were good. Twice (#3 & #9) Valkyrie drives lacked some anny. My putting was good. No mistakes, no rollaways. I've missed some makeable putts, but not many. I've made the short putts, had few 6-10m putts. Two Zone backhand hyzer approaches (#9 & #17) were too long. The P3 would have been the better option in both cases. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
