2020-08-28 Driving Practice Today I've been on the main soccer field, because that is hor- izontal and 105m long. With me I had a stack of discs. I threw three rounds. The goal was just pure distance. Putters: JB Zone: 65 D P3 black: 70 C P3 blue: 72 D P3 red: 78 D P3 rainbow: 81 I threw the putters only in the first round. The P3s flew on straight lines. The old rainbow-stamped one is the best of them, but it's my main putter as well. The distances equalled their stability. The black one is the most understable, the rainbow- stamped one the least understable. Midranges: X Comet: -, 85, 76 ESP Comet: 73, 82, 73 BigZ Comet: 70, 75, 72 DX Roc beat: 77, 77, 68 The BigZ Comet is the worst of them. I don't really like it. ESP and X Comets feel good and fly good. The second round was into a slight headwind; that increased the distance. I threw them with a bit of hyzer on rather high lines. The Roc had the least S- flight; it went pretty dead-on straight. Understable (much hyzer): DX Leo 165g: 68, 72, - This disc is very understable. I had to throw it with much hyzer and went with a high line, still it throwllered. Next time: less power, even more hyzer and a straighter hyzer-flip line ... Straightish with turn (flat or slight hyzer): Star Valk: 70, 98, 85 Pro Valk: 85, -, 90 Insanity: 95, 97, 81 Star Eagle: 93, 84, 85 DX EG orange: 81, 82, 90 DX EG white: 83, 102, 81 DX TB lila: 83, 94, 93 DX TB blue: 102, 88, 93 Star TB 158g: 82, 92, 82 Trespass: 86, 94, 93 All these discs have some initial turn, some with fade some without. Most throws were generally straight in direction, but with an S-flight usually. Here the farthest distances were reached: several times over 90m and twice even over 100m. Most of the throws, however, were on too high lines. Partly this was be- cause I feared turning and burning them if I lacked hyzer and hadn't enough height, partly I just wasn't able to throw lower lines. On the last round I hit the lines better: lower and straighter. I need to focus on these lower lines! They are better! Straight-to-fade (slight anny): Echostar TB: 92, 85, 90 Champ TB: 77, 91, 88 I went with slight anny releases for the Teebirds. Usually I use them for the fade or into low headwinds, but for straight shots in tailwinds some anny is necessary to land it in a straight direction. Each time I have the feeling that these provide a lot of consistency. Not sure if this matches reality. The Star Eagle or lila DX Teebird flew farther and with better placement, it seems. Maybe I feel this way because I know these Teebirds better than any other driver. Overstable (force-over): Champ Eagle: 97, 70, 88 Lucid Felon: 90, 92, 81 Hellfire: 90, 89, 85 These overstable discs were all thrown on rather high force-over lines. The distances were surprisingly far. It seems as if force-over lines are more my natural type of throw than hyzers. Or maybe they are less nose-angle sensitive. Maybe I should try to access holes 1 and 9 on the Wiley course with such a throw: Felon force-over. The line would fit well. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
