2020-02-05 Fieldwork Again It's been a while since I last was on the field, practicing drives. Today it had 5 C, the sun shining but a north wind, i.e. tailwind. I simply threw the 36 discs I had with me. And I filmed the first set, then the memory card was full. There the distances for the first set: 85m DX Eagle (white) 82m Felon (anny flex) 80m DX Eagle (orange) 80m Sting 75m DX Teebird (lila) 75m Roadrunner 75m Trespass 75m Leopard 73m D P3 73m Aurora MS 70m ES Teebird 70m Star Valkyrie 70m D P3 70m JB Zone 68m Hellfire 68m Insanity 68m D P3 68m ESP Zone 65m Champ Eagle 65m Pro Valkyrie 65m Champ Teebird 62m C P3 60m D P3 60m D P3 60m Star Teebird (158g) 60m Star Eagle Here the distances for the second set: 88m DX Teebird (lila) 85m Champ Eagle (anny flex) 85m Hellfire (anny flex) 85m DX Eagle (orange) 82m Star Teebird (158g) 78m Felon 78m Pro Valkyrie 78m Champ Teebird 78m ESP Zone 75m Leopard 72m Star Valkyrie 70m DX Eagle (white) 70m D P3 (rainbow) 70m D P3 (new) 68m D P3 (dark) 68m Star Eagle 65m Trespass 65m D P3 (red) 65m Sting 65m ES Teebird 60m Insanity 60m Roadrunner 55m Aurora MS 55m JB Zone Findings: My longest flyers are DX Teebird and DX Eagles on straight shots and the overstable drivers (Felon, Hellfire and the really beefy Champ Eagle) on anny flex lines. The DX plastic performed well because of grippiness. The overstable discs probably because anny releases seem to be more my style. On the second round I pumped the ESP Zone out to nearly 80m on an anny flex line. This was right inbetween the driver distances. On the first round I got it to about 70m. It might be that the anny flex shots were carried more by the tailwind. The Sting is a wonderful beginner disc. I don't like understable discs, but that one just goes far, despite being only a mid fair- way tweener disc. A much better disc than the Loepard, I think (at least in the plastics I have). My normal drivers kinda sucked today. S VL and ES TB only at 70m on all throws. The wider rim Trespass shows my nose angle problems, well. I need to practice more with wide rim drivers to improve there. The P3s went long ways. 60-70m first round, 65-70m second round. With the tailwind they flew pretty straight, but into a headwind they probably would turn. The black marked one is the most under- stable. My normal driving P3 (red marked) is pretty understable as well. The two newish P3s (darker yellow and not marked) had noticably more HSS. Surprisingly, my oldest P3 (rainbow stamp) -- the one with the old flight numbers, fade of 3 -- has the most HSS, despite being as worn-in as the red marked. It wasn't the most representative day for field training today. I won't change my bag because of these results. But I might swap the red marked P3 with another one. And I should facilitate that big anny flex shot more often. Maybe even throw that beefy Champ Eagle (which as zero turn) more often, see if it can skip like the Felon. The video I made showed too much lean forward on my throws. Also the disc is a little dragging behind. I should keep the body more center and upright, plus get the disc earlier in front of the chest. Foot work and hips looked rather good. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
