2019-12-30 With Friends Marius, Johanna, her brother Michael, and myself played two rounds on the Wiley course today. Michael played for the first time. Johanna had played once, two years ago. Marius has played twice before. Johanna played both rounds with an X Comet. It was the right disc for her speed- and stability-wise, but she couldn't really get the distance out of it. Maybe the lightweight Stratus would have been a better disc. She scored 42 and 45 on the par 27 course. Mainly caused by lack of distance. Michael had more power right away. He threw a DX Shark in the first round and a BigZ Sting in the second. His score was 40 and 36. Marius started with the Z-Flx Buzzz he had played with the last time as well. This resulted in a 35, including two double bogeys and three pars. In the second round he switched to a Champion Roadrunner, taking a double bogey on the first hole, before he got used to it, hitting par after par. On hole 6 he even threw a great forehand to park the hole for a birdie -- the only one to- day. With one birdie, one bogey and one double bogey, he came in with 29 (+2). Myself, I played with my JB Zone in the first round, hitting pars, except one bad double bogey on hole 3 and a bogey on hole 8, adding up to 30. In the second round I threw the ESP Comet and putted with a P3. Again hole 3 was a problem: I got a bogey -- funny how easy this hole is with a Valkyrie on a big hyzer, whereas it is a difficult one if your disc doesn't provide this long big hyzer. Anyways, I had to take another unfortunate bogey on the last hole, after a long missed putt, to only tie with Marius at 29. It's kinda bad to not score a single birdie in two rounds on my best known course, with two of my normal playing discs. Holes 4 and 5 should be well birdie-able. It was a nice time with them on the course. Especially Marius has gotten really good. His forehand is great ... just with a flick of the wrist, he cranks those discs out. I'd really love to play with him more often and with more than a single disc. I'll give him the Buzzz and the Roadrunner both next time. Not sure about putters. Last time, he didn't liked to use the putter, rather putted with the Buzzz. So, maybe next after these two discs, some driver with a healthy fade. We'll see. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
