2019-09-03 Front Foot Offset Yesterday I re-watched Simon's video on driving form. [0] This time I realized his emphasis on the front foot position, that it should be noticably offset to the left (for RHBH). I gave this a try today. It was a bit harder to implement in my standstill throw than it would be into an X-step, but it was possible. And the result: I gained 5m more distance instantly! :-) Impressive, how such a small change can make such a difference! In three quick rounds with eleven discs, I threw several 90m far: DX Eagle, DX Teebird, ES Teebird, Champ Roadrunner, Star Valkyrie, Pro Valkyrie, Lucid Felon. The Star Eagle flew even into the hillside, for 95m distance. This is a general gain of 5m on about all throws. Of course, as I focussed on one single aspect of the technique only, I had some failures on other parts (grip-locks, too low, too high), but this is to be expected. Still, most drives were just fine. Besides the front foot offset, I realized the explicit need to generate the power from the hips. On some shots I strong-armed a bit too much, then I focussed on not doing so, but working with the hip rotation, and the next shot was more powerful in effect. Seems as if I would get a feel for it. :-) I need so film myself again, sometime soon. [0] http://youtu.be/q9e_lEs7ASE http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
