2018-10-14 Field Work (Valk, Roc) Today, I've done some field work. I had my camera with me to analyze my form. I wanted to work on balance (body in the center between my feet). I wanted to work on hip driving the motion (no strong-arming). I wanted to work on nose-down (as always). Plus: I wanted to have fun throwing discs. Eventually I've been working on the field for two hours. Eight rounds with 20 discs, going both directions ... thus a lot of shots. I could have thrown even more; it was so nice. I haven't analyzed the videos yet. But I have analyzed the dis- tance notes. Surprisingly, my Star Valkyrie (170g) won in all three categories (avg/min/max distance). I haven't used this disc much yet, as I wasn't sure how to deal with it. Now it provided best results. I drove it to 88, 92, 80, 70 meters. Other con- sistently far-flying discs were my newer DX Teebird, my light Star Teebird, and my Star Eagle-X. Based on the distances of all drivers in four rounds, my distance averages at 72m (240'). Six of the 50 throws (~12%) were at around 90m (300'). I think that most throws are still nose-up. :-/ The other big surpise today was a perfect throw with my beat DX Roc, which landed at 85m, after a fully straight flight. What a shot! This is why all the world praises beat DX Rocs so much. I even consider bagging the Roc instead of the Comet. (But actual- ly, I rather consider going without mids at all. My P3s fly about the same as Rocs and Comets, for what I need.) After the two hours throwing discs, I went home, just because I thought I shouldn't keep throwing forever. My body is not used to throw that many drives. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
