2018-03-09 First Ace! Today, I shot my first Ace! :-D It was a bit windy outside, rather low temperatures, not exactly perfect disc golf weather, but at least the snow was gone, and, more important, I had time to play a round on the Wiley course. After the usual putting practice, I started on hole 1 (into a headwind). To warm up I threw some midranges from a standstill, then went for fairway drivers with an X-step. The disc that counted (Champion Teebird) flew okay, but resulted in a Bogey after a bad upshot. The lighter DX Teebird, however, flew great, released with hyzer, flipped-up to flat, turned slightly, then came back. It went straight towards the basket up to 85m, i.e. edge of the circle. What a great shot! My best and farthest one on this hole ever. Then hole 2: open with a tree on the front left of the basket, thus you throw it straight with a fade at the end towards the basket (RHBH): The perfect Teebird shot. My first shot on the hole (the one that counted), I went Champion Teebird, used an X- step, ripped it out, it flew a big hyzer ... and -- BAM! -- right into the basket! My first Ace! with such a beautiful shot! with the Champion Teebird, which is a main-stay in my bag ever since I bought it as my first driver. So great! :-) The only downside: There was no one else around, not even people walking by. I didn't mind. I signed my disc nonetheless. -- My first Ace. Wow! The rest of the round was dominated by tree hits (often the first one) on the wooded holes. I didn't care, just played my shots and was happy because of the Ace. The open holes (3 and 9), however, showed the X-step improvement. On hole 3 I achieved a Birdie with a practice shot, driving the DX Teebird on a 75m big hyzer to about 5m from the pin. And on hole 9 (100m), I had three good drives with both DX Teebirds and the Star Eagle-X. One of the DX Teebirds counted. I managed a great upshot (which is my main problem on this hole) and scored Par. In summary: First Ace! :-) Open shots have improved. Wooded holes need to be worked on. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
