2017-01-16 Starting to Putt Right at the beginning, I was unable to make any putt from farth- er than three meters away. I just had no feeling for how to get the disc in. The videos on putting techniques that I watched didn't help me much (or maybe were even counterproductive) -- push putt, spin putt, I still don't see the difference clearly. I tried to imitate what I had seen and heard on Youtube, but it didn't really fit together for me. Thus, my putting was pretty bad. The first major step forward was practicing (of course): I went to a basket, and started to putt from 3 meters, from each side of the basket, then from 5 meters. It was not for long, but the second time I practiced, I was surprised to realize that suddenly I made three putts in a row from 6 meters in. I couldn't believe it -- it just worked. :-) This pushed my confidence a lot. The next major step was when I stopped worrying about technique, but simply tried to throw the disc in. Actually, I'm currently in this phase. For short putts I've started to use a loose fan grip, and it feels better. Just, I cannot imagine how to get any power onto the disc with that grip, thus, for longer putts, I hold the pinky and ring finger to the rim, spread the middle finger out, and put the index finger against the rim. I have some problems placing my fingers, as they seem to be too long, but this some- what complex grip feels best, currently. (For drives and longer upshots I powergrip.) Now that I bought a second putter, putting practice makes more fun. I don't think that I'll need two putters on the course, but practicing with just one is too lame and practicing with two dif- ferent ones is not helpful. (If I'd putt with the P2 and the Aero alternatingly, I'd always throw one too low and the other too high.) All in all, in this first month, my putting improved the most, even with the least practice of all kinds of shots. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
